Diane Viens is an Associate Lecturer with Fitzgerald Health Education Associates, Inc., an international provider of NP Certification Exam Review and Advanced Practice Update and continuing education for healthcare providers. Dr. Viens presents the Advanced Pathophysiology Course for Nurse Practitioners and Advanced Practice Clinicians.

Dr. Viens is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurse Credentialing Center.  She received her Doctorate in Nursing Science with an emphasis on nursing ethics from the University of San Diego, San Diego, CA.  She currently practices in an integrated practice, Back to Health, in Branford, CT with several health care providers, including chiropractors, naturopaths, an acupuncturist, a massage therapist, and a physician. She is a Fellow of American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. 

Dr. Viens’ areas of expertise are in primary care health concepts, health policy, pathophysiology and management of chronic illnesses in adults.  She has taught in several baccalaureate programs, as well as an associate degree program on the Navajo Reservation.  She has served as a consultant to several nurse practitioner programs in the United States, as well as to the College of Nurses of Ontario, Canada.  Dr. Viens serves as an accreditation site visitor for the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and has served as a reviewer for the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC).

A highly regarded nursing leader and visionary, Dr. Viens actively participates in the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF).  She is a Past President of NONPF having served in this position from 2002-2004 and also as Chair of the NONPF Education Committee.   Dr. Viens currently serves as the Chair of the Conferences subgroup for the International Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Network. 

Dr. Viens presents on a wide variety of pharmacology and NP practice topics.  She has presented at numerous regional, national and international Nursing and NP conferences. Included among these are the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and University of Colorado Annual Nurse Practitioner Symposium, Keystone, CO national conferences, as well as the International nurse practitioner conferences.
