Kismet Rasmusson is an Associate Lecturer with Fitzgerald Health, a national provider of NP Certification Preparation and ongoing continuing education for healthcare providers.

Ms. Rasmusson is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and currently practices as a Family Nurse Practitioner with the Heart Failure Prevention and Treatment Program at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah.  She is a team member for Heart Failure Program development throughout Intermountain Healthcare’s 20-hospital system, with goals to improve heart failure outcomes.  She is an adjunct faculty member and nurse practitioner student preceptor at the University of Utah College of Nursing, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Ms. Rasmusson is the 2004 recipient of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners State Excellence Award for Utah and in 2002 received a Nursing Research Award by the Heart Failure Society of America.  She is a member of numerous professional organizations including, the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses, the Heart Failure Society of America, American Heart Association, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Utah Nurse Practitioners, and Sigma Theta Tau.  She is the past-president of the Utah Nurse Practitioners, having assumed many leadership roles since 1997.

Ms. Rasmusson has published and presented many heart failure abstracts and articles. She is on the AAHFN publications task force, and is on the editorial advisory board for Nursing 2006 Critical Care Journal. Her recent publications include an online Medscape ejournal January 2006 entitled Managing the Heart Failure Epidemic: The Evolving Role of Nurse Specialists.  She co-authored articles entitled Heart Failure Update 2006: Integrating the Latest Guidelines into Clinical Practice and The Stages of Heart Failure Guide Therapy from Prevention through Intervention.  In April 2006, she presented two abstracts on destination LVAD recipients at the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplant in Madrid, Spain.  She is an invited lecturer on heart failure at several local and national level conferences.
