Christy Yates, MS, FNP-BC, NP-C, AE-C, is a senior lecturer with Fitzgerald Health Education Associates, Inc. (FHEA), an international provider of nurse practitioner certification preparation and continuing education for healthcare providers. She presents the FHEA Nurse Practitioner Certification Exam Review and Advanced Practice Update for family and adult nurse practitioners as well as programs on asthma, allergy and immunology. More than 55,000 NPs have used the Fitzgerald review course to successfully prepare for certification.
Ms. Yates is certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She also is certified as an asthma educator by the National Asthma Educator Certification Board. She practices as a family nurse practitioner full-time at Family Allergy and Asthma and part-time as a primary care provider at Family Health Centers, Inc., both in Louisville, KY. Christy has continued her interest in primary care by practicing internal medicine and family medicine in addition to her specialty in allergy, asthma, immunology, and cardiac rhythms.
She has been published in the Journal of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and is on the Editorial Advisory Board of The Nurse Practitioner Journal. Ms. Yates has presented numerous lectures on a wide variety of clinical topics at local, regional and national NP conferences, including the Kentucky Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Midwives as well as the National Conference for Nurse Practitioners and Advanced Practice Clinicians. Ms. Yates is a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. She is also a member of the Kentucky Coalition of Nurse Practitioners for which she has served in leadership roles over the years including as chair and co-chairperson of the Annual Regional Kentucky NP Conference. She has mentored nurse practitioner students for years, and received the outstanding preceptor award from Spalding University, Louisville, KY, in recognition of her service.
