Intro to Behavior Disorders in Children

From toddlers to adolescents, behavioral concerns are common in primary care, and often attributed to attention deficit disorder (ADD) by both parents and primary care providers alike. However, there are several disorders that can produce behavioral symptoms, and some of them are responsive to medication therapy while others are not. This presentation provides a foundation for the primary care provider who struggles to differentiate attention deficit disorder (ADD), disruptive mood dysregulation disorder (DMDD), oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), and conduct disorder (CD), offering pearls for assessment and suggestions about when and to whom to refer.
