FAQs: Live In-Person Seminars and LiveStream Courses

What do I need to know if I take a LiveStream course?

How does a LiveStream course work?

A LiveStream course is a live class broadcast over the internet via a streaming service like ZOOM or WEBEX. The instructor and all class participants are live, just like in a classroom, but the class is done virtually and omits the need to travel to a specific location so you save on travel time, gas, etc.

Attendance is taken the same as a regular classroom and in some cases requires that you show your ID at the beginning of class and remain on camera during the entire class. You will enjoy all the interactivity of a classroom, but from the comfort of your own home.

Do I have to be tech-savvy to take a webinar?

Our webinars are designed to streamline your user experience from start to finish. All you need is a computer or tablet with Adobe Flash player. When you register for a webinar, you’ll receive an email with login instructions. On the day of the webinar, all you have to do is click the link, join, and enjoy!

Will I need any special equipment to attend a live streaming class?

If you’d like to attend a live streaming broadcast course, you will need to have access to:

    • A computer or device with internet connection capability
    • Audio speakers
    • A reasonable-sized screen for viewing
    • A microphone so that you and the instructor can interact
    • Reliable internet access capable of video conferencing (we recommend 1-4 Mbps)

A webcam if preferred or you can ask questions and participate via a live chat during the webinar

I enjoy the interactivity of classroom learning. Will I have any discussions with students or instructors in a LiveStream course?

There’s plenty of interaction in a LiveStream course. You can ask the instructor questions in real-time or chat with your peers in the webinar chat section. Plus, the webinar moderator will always be on hand to help with technical questions or connection issues.

If I am signed up for a Livestream course, when will I get login instructions and the link to attend the class?

Depending on when you sign up for the class, you will receive three email notifications with links. The first will arrive 4 days prior to the scheduled start time of the webinar.

24 hours before the start of your class you will receive another email with a link to your class.

You will receive a third email 30 minutes before the class starts. Make sure that you have not opted out of emails so that you will receive important course information.

I’ve never taken a webinar before; do I have to take a test at the end to get credit?

In most cases, you will not be required to complete an exam. Just follow along with the instructor’s presentation, answer the poll questions throughout the webinar, and complete the brief survey at the end of the course. In states that allow for emailed certificates, we’ll email you your certificate of completion 1-2 business days after the webinar. There are some exceptions to this rule, which you will be notified of during the purchase of your course.

How do I access my webinar course completion certificate?

Your completion certificate will normally be available to print from your student dashboard within 24-48 hours after a live streaming broadcast ends. Similar to the timeframe of a live class. If you do not see your completion certificate after 72 hours, please reach out to us at 1-800-927-5380 on Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Eastern or email us at [email protected].

I was signed up for an onsite seminar that was canceled. Are you offering those same classes via Livestream or in a different online format?

Many of our courses are offered in multiple delivery methods or formats – Onsite classroom, webinar or online virtual classroom. Sometimes the number of hours vary depending on the delivery method.

Check the course listing for your state on our website. You can refine results using the toggles on the left side of the screen to differentiate between delivery methods.

What can I do to prepare to take a LiveStream course?

We suggest that you perform a pre-class checklist:

  • Follow the Zoom/Webex webinar pre-class preparation instructions provided by email
  • Print out any handouts sent to you ahead of time so that you can review the information and take notes
  • Test all of your equipment prior to the start time to maximize your interaction and enjoyment
  • Plan on joining your class at least 10-25 minutes early to ensure a successful login and so that attendance does not take up class time
