Academic- Pharmacology of Lipid Management for ASCVD Risk Reduction
84
This program provides a deep dive into the physiologic principles of lipid absorption, synthesis and plasma transport. Essential mechanisms leading to serum cholesterol levels are analyzed as a foundation for understanding the mechanisms of action of those medications used to reduce serum LDL and ultimately ASCVD risk.
At the conclusion of this program the participant will be able to:
- Evaluate mechanisms of lipid synthesis and transport.
- Analyze the role of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors in ASCVD risk reduction.
- Apply evidence-based recommendations for polypharmacy in the high risk patient
