A Review of the Guidelines, Treatment, and Implications for NPs
0
Don't miss our upcoming NP Talks focusing on sepsis—a critical topic in patient care. Sepsis is life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection. Sepsis and septic shock have a mortality rate between 1 in 3, and 1 in 6 affected. Early identification and appropriate management in the initial hours after development of sepsis improves outcomes. This program will define sepsis, describe sepsis statistics, and review the historical sepsis guidelines. We will cover the different categories of sepsis according to the guidelines and discuss the changes in the 2021 Sepsis Guidelines and implications for nurse practitioners. Lastly, we will identify appropriate NP interventions for sepsis patients.
