The care of the transgender patient is different from that of other gender non-conforming and gender minority populations. The individual needs of this population vary and as a result need to have specialized, focused care in order to meet their healthcare needs. It is a well-documented fact that the majority of healthcare providers today have not been properly educated on how to care for this population therefore, the specific needs are largely ignored. This session will focus on how to approach the care of the transgender patient and address their specific needs in an effort to promote patient-centered care.
