The American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP) announced the recipients of the 2024 Loretta C. Ford Award, FAANP Legacy Awards, and Honorary Fellow distinction. The Executive Committee of the Fellows of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP) bestows this prestigious award. This is a program established in 2000 to honor nurse practitioner (NP) leaders who exemplify professional excellence through research, practice, and advocacy.

The 2024 Loretta C. Ford Award
The 2024 Loretta C. Ford Award takes its name from the co-founder of the NP role, Loretta C. Ford, EdD, RN, PNP, NP-C, CRNP, FAAN, FAANP. It recognizes an NP who has made significant contributions to health care policy development at various levels. This award also honors those who have made sustained efforts to clarify the role and scope of NPs or have creatively turned challenges into opportunities to advance NP practice and improve patient outcomes.

The 2024 Loretta C. Ford Awardee for Advancement of the Nurse Practitioner Role in Health Care is Jean Aertker, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, FAANP. The 2024 FAANP Honorary Fellow is Lusine Poghosyan, PhD, MPH, RN, FAAN, FAANP(H). The 2024 FAANP Legacy Awardees are Barbara Resnick, PhD, CRNP, FAAN, FAANP and Barbara A. Todd, DNP, ACNP-BC, FAANP, FAAN.
